What is satellite radio and how it works?

Satellite radio is the latest trend in the world of radio entertainment. It is also known as subscription radio and pay radio. This is due to the fact that a paid subscription is required for access. The reason Paid subscription because it has programs that are not offered by traditional AM and FM stations.

How Does the work of satellite radio?

As its name suggests, satellite radio uses satellites to send programs to the listeners. The radio signal passes through the base stations of land the satellite, then back down to radio receivers. The signals reach a much wider area than the regular radio antenna. Satellite radio is now available for most countries.

What is needed to listen to satellite radio?

To start enjoying this service, you need the actual satellite radio. This is also known as a receiver or tuner. An antenna is also required. You'll need a subscription to one of the suppliers for programming your receiver. Three suppliers are:

WorldSpace-available in Europe, Asia and Africa.
Radio available in North America XM.
Sirius, also available in North America.

Because providers have rights exclusive individual radio signals they send, everyone has a different material which collect these different signals. Each receiver has an ID radio, or the serial number. Once you have a subscription, you get an activation code which you will begin to receive radio signals.

What types of satellite radios are they?

There are three types of satellite radios to choose from. They are:

Dedicated car or the original radio. As the name implies, the signal is picked up by your car or your Stereo at home.

Plug and Play Radio. With this system, you can listen to the radio in your home or car with one subscription.

Portable. This radio has a rechargeable battery. Antenna is built and you can listen to with headphones. You can take this type of radio wherever you go.

What are the advantages of satellite radio?

The advantages of satellite radio are many. These include:

Clear, static free reception
It is almost entirely without advertising.
More than 100 programs that cover different types of music.
exclusive talk shows, news, sports, cultural and educational programs. Howard Stern to Martha Stewart, there is something for everyone.
The data transmitted includes the name and artist of songs and programs, and the channel. With this feature, you can easily choose what you want to listen.

Although some may question why they should pay for radio when they can listen to free FM and AM stations, more and more people choose satellite radio subscriptions. With so many choices of music and programs to listen and the virtual environment without advertising, they consider it worth the price.
